I’ve been doing the thing where this draft has been a tab on my screen for most of the week and I add then delete things, over and over. (I think that’s one of the reasons I like writing by hand — it makes that more much difficult to do.) So this time around, I’m just typing and I’m sending and that’s it.
Until next time around,

P.S. I keep saying I’ll load my Pilot calligraphy pens with interesting ink and then the subsequent entry is about something totally different, like this one. The rest of my life also operates this way, so I know: I will get to it, or something very similar to it, eventually.
P.P.S. It turned out we didn’t have to wait long to say goodbye to Willoughby, our dog-cat with mammary cancer. From beginning to end, it was less than a month and apparently that level of aggression isn’t unusual. (Also, cats who have had kittens are much more likely to get mammary cancer — yet another reason to spay/neuter, folks.) Our other cat, Roaster, grew up under her watch. Roaster’s doing better than she was when Willie was ill. But between that loss and Roaster’s human sibling’s upcoming departure for law school, I’ve been wondering if we’ll need to consider adding a new household member. We’ll see.
P.P.P.S. I didn’t take vacation for a long time and now I’m in a vacation blackout period…all of which means I have vacation that really needs to get burned off during the last quarter of the year. (Passport renewal form is still on my desk, by the way.) I’ll be at Writer Camp in August and probably Conversations and Connections in September, which will take care of a little of it, but I’m thinking about how best to do the rest. I could use some me-writing confidence-rebuilding time.
P.P.P.P.S. I am always happy to help people find a pen they might like. If you’re looking, please do get in touch!
