Here’s a much better photo of the Retro 51 Tornado Fright Night.1

It’s weighing on me more that I have never been to a stationery or pen show. Especially since I live in the northeast US and going to one doesn’t have to be at bucket list level. I missed Baltimore and Philly this year because the first quarter of this year sucked.2 There’s sometimes a spring pen show in the NYC metro area, but I’m not finding much info for this year. The DC Supershow is always the same weekend as the second session of Barrelhouse Writer Camp, sigh. The brand new Stationery Fest, run by Yoseka Stationery in Brooklyn, is the weekend after that — but I’m concerned it will just make me cranky.3 So right now, the Commonwealth Pen Show this fall is looking like the most realistic possibility.
I have Christmas/birthday gift cards to burn and no grail pen on the horizon, so I’m keeping an eye out for that Lamy Dark Lilac (NYT, gift link)4. I’d also consider the new ink it was initially getting confused with. But, since I already have ink sitting around as it is, I’ve also been thinking about using my gift cards for some basic printmaking tools.
And finally: I’m close to empty on a cartridge in my Pilot Metropolitan, so I’m thinking about what should get inked next. I have a few pens where it’s been a serious minute, and for no real reason except that I chain swap cartridges in the same pen when I think I’m in a hurry.5
Until next time,

Someday I’ll care enough about my online presentation to do better by lighting, but today’s not that day.
See my Instagram for some of the details, if that’s your jam, and there are others.
$50 for a three day pass, and especially when I already get annoyed by late millennial aspiring influencers at free-to-browse retail stores who regard other customers as irritants on their sets. Yes, get off my lawn while I yell at this cloud, etc.
Since you can’t do that in most TWSBIs, it’s been a while since I used a TWSBI. But there’s also a Waterman, a Retro 51 fountain pen, and probably a few more that I’m just not remembering.
